|Ok...so this time I actually got stuff to write rather than just random thoughts.
So my friend Alex and I got together with my folks, and we all went on up to the restaurant that we usually go to as a family. We hung out, partook in many slices of pizza, and traded stories on how life's been going for each of us.
Eventually, this led to me asking my mom and dad, "So, how're Abby and Storm (my two cats)?" That when my parents kind of exchanged glances with each other. My smile, I think, kind of went into a shock phase. My dad broke the silence by saying, "About that...Storm's (the oldest of the two cats...17) not doing so good. We woke up this morning and found that everything he ate: food, liquid, treats, anything...was going right through him and coming out entirely liquid. So, your mom and I took him to the vet to see what was wrong. The doctor said that he had absolutely no muscles in his body, he is getting tired incredibly easy, and his bowels are...well, you've seen what's wrong with him. He was just getting old. So, to make sure he wasn't suffering like our last pet did when he got old, we decided to put him down."
And just like that, my mental image of me coming home to two cats waiting for me at the door....just shattered. It's weird. When I first heard my dad said this...I really didn't feel anything. I was kinda expecting it for a long time. Storm was just deteriorating in front of my eyes every time I came home. He was an old, old cat. Last time I saw him, he didn't do anything except sleep in his bed. Moreover, when I petted him, he loved the fact that I was petting him, but when I did, all i felt was skin and bone. I get this feeling that maybe a week or two down the road, it might hit me hard...but for right now, I have this, "I kind of expected it" mindset. Let's just hope it stays that way for a while.
Ok, so, I had a MAJOR Silent Hill moment driving Alex home. In my hometown...the whole area is covered with THICK fog. I'm talking when I drove down this patch of road that had one streetlight on, I didn't see the light until I was right under it. The furthest I could see was probably 25 yards, tops. So, this whole time, I was expected a tornado siren to go off and the whole world turn into Rust Land...or at least Pyramid Head stepping out into the middle of the road and trying to cut my Dad's car in half. Either way, I would've ran my ass off.
Anyway, it's getting late...I should probably get some sleep in my BIG bed. Yay for being able to spread out:D G'night guys!
