|I don't tend to agree that it doesn't matter (losing something or someone you love is never like that) but I think you're right on the not living your life looking backwards. The nitty-gritty of it is that people change, and that's just how it is.
I'm sorry I didn't wish you a happy birthday. But if it's any consolation, no one (yourself included) wished me a happy birthday either except jeeber and my family. And to tell you the truth (though you and I are different people) that was fine. It truly didn't offend me at all. It happens... I'm not anyone else's top priority.
I'm glad that you're happy, or at least seem to be. I think back on the past a lot, not because I want it back, but because it contains good memories. Perhaps if the present and the future cannnot be changed, then the best way to look at the past is precisely that way. We've all acquired different lives recently, and if we can't seem to fit all the old things into that life... then we all lose. No one person is more at fault than any other.
At least... that's just the way I look at it. I find it helpful most of the time.
