In fuedal Japan, a ronin (which means wave man or "one carried by the waves") was a masterless Samurai. For whatever reason, they did not have an employer. Since the Samurai was essentially a killing machine with an exagerated sense of honor, they were some of the most feared and hated people of the culture. Some were known for randomly killing without provokation. They were poorly dressed and drifted from town to town, and this made it very difficult to determine how dangerous one was. Strangely enough, Ronins were often better swordsmen than the typical samurai. Several Records recall instinces in which a young man with ratty cloths, no armor, and weilding poorly constructed swords easily killed as many as ten trained and experienced samurai in one battle, fighting all at once. The analogy I was making is that I have wandered far and overcome many painful obstacles without ever seeing the point. I was (or more likely percieved myself to be) alone and without allies or masters. But now I have found a "clan".
