Did I tell you Nick's sister got engaged? Not Katti, sadly. Jess. She'd been dating the guy for about 9 months when they got engaged. They'll be dating for a year on V-Day. They're getting married in October. I was mad about it for a while but I'm okay now. I just think it's silly.

Rachelle informed me that it's British culture to get engaged and marry (and divorce, I added silently in my mind) early on in the relationship. My friend Josh (Troy's old roommate and my adoptive big brother) got engaged to his fiancee early on in the relationship, before a year... maybe at 8 months? I dunno. They'd known each other for years. I met Josh in 2006 when he was already engaged. Their wedding is sometime in 2009. Talk about a long engagement.

Troy and I want to get married someday and because we won't be able to live together (I want Troy to learn how to live on his own first, plus the religious zealots known as my relatives would be pissed off to the max, and I don't want my parents to be disappointed in me), we'll probably marry sooner than [most] people who live together. Heck, we'll probably have to wait a few years before getting married. I want to graduate, he wants to get a job, I want to find a job, he needs to work up the nerve to ask my dad for permission, etc.

Hard to believe just a few years ago we were all worrying about school and never getting that first kiss before we turned 17.
