Found: Brush
While cleaning out my backpack from last year, I found a large, square, periwinkle hairbrush with brown hair in it. This must have been from a loooong time ago. Is it yours?

Realizations
1. I will have no time to shop for a back to school outfit.
2. I don't really care about the above realization! I know that I have friends who'll support me no matter what I wear, SO WHY THE HELL EVEN GO SHOPPING FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?!
3. I'm not going to have a new backpack for the beginning of this school year because I'm picky and we're ordering one online.
4. Crap! I actually kind of care about that one!
5. I have random bouts of ADD. This may not be clinically accurate, but I'm having an awfully hard time focusing on Niccolo's Smile for more than 45 minutes at a time...
6. I don't really know where my classes are. I'm not going to have time to walk my schedule before the first day of school. I'm kind of worried about this.
7. Why the hell is it like 20 degrees colder by the computer than anywhere else in the house?
8. I went skinny dipping last night. No really, I did.
9. I want to be in a concert band...NOW.
10. I had no idea Paige treated Molly and me so differently. That kind of creeps me out.

OHMYGOD!!
Did anyone catch the whole Albinus/Severus thing in the MEHAP reading?!!?!?! HARRY POTTER FORESHADOWING, I TELL YOU!!!!

Based on historical events described on pages 75-76 of The Prince by Machiavelli, I think that Snape will betray Dumbledore and kill him. AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Had to get that out of my system. Back to reading!

Good lord the MEHAP homework is going to take me a while if I highlight and take notes at the rate that I am...

I just realized how redundant I've been in regards to journal comments recently. Too much sun...

104 pages a day and I can do it! (But shit, tomorrow I have no time!)

STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID SCHEDULING CONFLICTS FORCING ME TO CHANGE AP'S!!! (Sorry, we all have to be whiny and obnoxious sometimes, right?)

Melissa's Clarinet Playing Adventures
7:30-Started practicing NCD sixteenth notes
7:40-Can play NCD sixteenth notes at 160--as eighth notes.
7:50-Can play NCD sixteenth notes at 160 (and as sixteenth notes) IF I play them 4 notes at a time, pause, next 4 notes, pause, etc.
8:00-practiced warmups
8:15-bits of other pieces practiced, sightreading from Geckler oboe book begins
8:25-chose a minor piece (without checking to see that it was minor) and liked it
8:25 to 9-sightread numerous other minor pieces, feeling very expressive, calm, and good.

It was a good evening. I realized that playing clarinet makes me REALLY calm and sightreading is very, very, very good. I think I'll do this more often.

Melissa's Schedule!
Sooooo....after waiting in line to get my schedule changed this morning, Mrs. Passallo told me that it was Ms. Dawson's call because it was an 'administrative issue' whether or not to let me switch APs to MEHAP. I was rather scared. My only run-ins with Ms. Dawson have not been pretty. (Her: You cannot take Girls' Ensemble AND Marching Band! It's too much! Me: I know the teachers personally. I am taking the classes. *glare* and you all know the second...)

Came back as soon as we were dismissed for lunch praying that people would be nice even though it was THEIR lunch break and found Ms. Dawson. Asked her when to come back, but she changed my schedule for me right then because Mrs. Passallo had already talked to her. She was so nice! She put me in classes that were full (heehee) and valued Chorale over Algebra II honors (which is what I value too) so yeah. Here it is:

0 PE Band Soph
0 Marching Band (Ferrucci)
0 Girls' 21 (Shaull)
1 Algebra II (Robertson K)
2 European History AP (Wangness)
3 Chorale (Shaull)
4 PE 1,2,3,4Q (Phillips)
5 French III (Youatt)
6 World Lit H (Bonnano)
7 Chemistry (Babb)
8 Concert Choir (Shaull)

So there you have it!

Getting coffee (well, frappecino for me) with Yahya later tonight -- should be fun. (Edit at 8:52-Or not. Il ne m'a pas telephonee. Je ne suis pas tres triste, et j'espere qu'il n'est pas un manteur.)

Marching Band performance of music and marching (but no drill) tomorrow at 2 at LAHS, then pool party and bbq. Come if you want!

Oh my good Lord God. There are 17-21 people coming to the church pool party thing at my house this sunday. (I'd say 'drop in if you want' but it's a church thing and it'd be weird and people would get mad at me...) That's a lot of people!

Possible new schedules...
The only problems would be that these classes are full and there's that whole AP contract thing, BUT:

Reasons why Melissa should not be punished for taking MEHAP instead of History of Art AP:
*I'm not transferring out of the class because it was too hard.
*I'm switching into ANOTHER AP, so how is this making my life any easier?
*I would have stayed in History of Art AP had it have worked out with my other classes!

So....here are the revised schedules:

0 Marching Band/Girls' 21
1 Algebra II H (Evans)
2 Chemistry (Paige)
3 Chorale (Shaull)
4 MEHAP (Wangsness)
5 French III (Youatt)
6 World Literature Honors (Bonnano)
7 PE (Phillips)

0 Marching Band/Girls' 21
1 Algebra II H
2 MEHAP
3 Chorale
4 Jazz Dance (Oliver)
5 French III
6 World Lit. H
7 Chemistry (Babb)

My schedule is so screwed!!
So not sure why they sent out the schedules in the mail, but whatever. Mine is so fucked up it's not even funny. I'm freaking out, even though they set dates for schedule changes. So anyway, here's how my schedule looks so far.

0 PE Band Soph (this just means that I get a quarter of PE credits for doing Marching Band)
0 Marching Band (Ferrucci)
1 History of Art AP (Wangsness)
3 French III (Youatt)
5 Adv Jazz Dance (Oliver)
6 World Lit H (Bonnano)
7 Chemistry (Babb)
8 Concert Choir (Shaull)

There are so many things wrong this. 1) I do not have a math class. 2) I do not have Chorale on there. 3) I didn't MAKE Advanced Jazz Dance, so I can't take the class. 4) Girls' 21 is not on there.

Besides that, I think that Chorale was 3rd period last year, meaning I can't take French III at the same time. There HAVE to be at least 2 French III classes because not that many people were 'reccomended' to take French II again and everone from Ms. W-somethingthatIdon'tknowhowtospell's class has to be taught by Mme Youatt.

OHMYGODDDDD!! This is all not good. Even though it'll be worked out, I don't know how the whole Chorale/French III thing is going to work out. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

(Actually, I might.)

Band Camp Day 1
It was so great to see everyone again! (Especially Christiana, Lisa, Sara, Gabi, and Alexandra!)

It was weird to re-learn everything... There were all rookies in my group except for Raissa so no one knew what they were doing. It was kind of cool to not be a freshman, but I really miss last year. The clarinet section was better. We have 2 freshman and one picked up on marching really quickly so that's cool.

Hrm. Seeing as I completely SUCK at playing clarinet and still don't have time for symphonic band in my schedule, I'm almost rethinking trying out for leadership staff next year. I don't think I'd deserve it. I marched better than I thought I would, but Joseph won the drilldown, so he really wins the talent contest. Hrm. Maybe I'll change my mind by the end of this year...

Oh, and I'm still screwed for the History of Art AP paper. HELP ME, ALI AND SARAH, OR I AM GOING TO DIEEEEEE!!!

Does anyone read this anymore? I haven't gotten comments in a while...

BAND CAMP STARTS MONDAY!! EEEEEE!!!

Just reread some entries from a while back. I really DO sound like a bitch in all of those entries!! I'm hoping this has changed...?

The Olymics are cool. Gymnastics is awesome and Ian Thorps is BEAUTIFUL.

It's really amazing how time changes things.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

Tomorrow should be tons more fun than today (which is a good thing!) Some people are coming over to swim in the early-mid afternoon and then I'm going to the Charity Horse show in Atherton with Mary and Kelsey to watch a jumper class! WHOO!!! :-D

(By the way, if any of you want to come over and swim tomorrow, feel free to call and come on over! So far it's just Nicole, Molly and me. The more the merrier! Just call first...)

I really think the oral surgeons just try to piss me off...
Woke up at 4:30 this morning, unable to get back to sleep because of throbbing pain. Took 1 painkiller, read magazines (compliments of Ali!) for an hour, no better. Took another painkiller, finally fell asleep.

Was awoken at 9:00 to take first pill of the day "with food," but seeing as I'd eaten with the painkillers and wasn't hungry, I didn't eat much. Went back to sleep.

Was awoken again at 10:00 for second pill, then told that I had to begin using hot packs for 5-7 minutes while moving my jaw around 3 times a day.

So here I am, it's only 1:30 in the afternoon, and I've taken 4 pills, used a hot pack for 5 minutes while moving my jaw, (which is REALLY ANNOYING) brushed my teeth and used the oral rinse, AND squirted the oral rinse through the little thing all in my mouth.

DOESN'T THIS SEEM A LITTLE UNNECCESSARY?! It's not like they took out a vital organ, for gosh sakes!
